Seasonal - confirm dates
Pros
- A rare full-size outdoor water area for this part of Louisiana
- Lodging choice from tower rooms to RV pads under one owner
- Easy base for day drives to Lake Charles and the prairie towns
- Free-standing rural setting, so evenings are quiet outside the main buildings
Cons
- The water area is seasonal, so a winter stay leans on indoor dining and shows
- Kinder itself is small; most sightseeing means getting in the car
- Busy weekends can fill the hotels early - ask the hotel before you set dates
Owned and published by Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana - not an independent review
Rooms
The resort spreads its guests across three buildings. The Grand Hotel is the larger, more polished tower; the Seven Clans Hotel sits alongside it as a second full-service option; and the Inn at Coushatta is the simpler, lower-key choice. Room types, bed layouts and suites differ from building to building, so read the room descriptions on the official site rather than assuming one tower mirrors another.
For families, ask the hotel which building is the shortest walk to the pool, and whether connecting rooms can be guaranteed or only requested. Accessible rooms are listed by the resort; confirm the exact bathroom layout when you book.
Pools & spa
The Dream Pool is the part people drive in for: a broad outdoor pool with a lazy river, two slides and a splash pad for small children. It runs on a seasonal calendar, so the dates it opens and closes each year are worth checking before a spring or autumn trip. Cabanas and loungers can be in demand on hot weekends.
We have not confirmed a dedicated spa with treatment rooms at the resort right now. If massages or a quiet wellness area matter to your stay, check with the front desk which treatments, if any, run during your stay.
Restaurants & bars
Big Sky Steakhouse is the dressed-up dinner of the property and was refreshed recently. Around it sit faster, more casual places: Terrace Cafe for a full menu at most hours, Eagle Bar and Grill, a noodle counter, Lagniappe Market for grab-and-go food, Coushatta Coffee and a Starbucks. Bar 7 covers drinks.
Opening hours shift across the week and by season. The dining page on the official site lists the current line-up and any weekly specials; for a celebration dinner at the steakhouse, book ahead.
Shows & entertainment
Concerts and comedy nights take place in the resort's Pavilion and its entertainment center, with acts announced on a rolling calendar. Smaller live music turns up in the bars on weekends. Ticketed shows can carry their own age limits, which the event listing will state.
For a quieter evening, the pool deck in summer and the RV park's open grounds are the calmest spots. Facilities at a glance: three hotel buildings, seasonal Dream Pool, several restaurants and bars, Pavilion event venue, RV park and chalets, Casino on site.
What's nearby
Lake Charles is the nearest city, south and west along the interstate, with its lakefront, a walkable downtown and a fuller choice of museums and festivals. From there the Creole Nature Trail runs down towards the Gulf through marsh and prairie, with boardwalks and wildlife viewing at the refuges along the route.
To the east lies the Cajun prairie: small towns such as Eunice and Jennings with dance halls, local bakeries and boudin shops. Weekend music in that area is the best reason to stay a second night.
How to get there
Lake Charles Regional Airport (LCH) is the closest commercial airport, and a rental car is the practical way on from there. Many guests instead fly into Houston and drive east on I-10, which is a longer road day but gives far more flight choices.
Kinder sits on US-165, north of the interstate. Parking is on site for cars and larger vehicles; ask the hotel whether any airport transfer or shuttle runs before you rely on one.
Practical information
We would rather point you to the right question than print a figure that may have changed. Ask about each of these when you book.
- Resort fee
- Find out whether Coushatta adds a nightly amenity charge beyond the room price, and what that charge pays for.
- Parking
- Self-parking is on the property; confirm whether trailers or oversize vehicles must use the RV park.
- Cancellation
- Read the cancellation window on your exact rate - advance-purchase prices are often stricter.
- Best season
- Late spring to early autumn if the Dream Pool is the point; cooler months suit drives and shows.
- Check-in age
- Confirm the minimum age to check in; it can be higher than 18 at resorts like this one.
Questions guests ask
Who wrote this review?
Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, the owner of Coushatta Casino Resort. That is why we label it as an owner's review, not an independent one.
Is the Dream Pool open all year?
No. It follows a seasonal schedule. Check the official site or ask the hotel for this year's dates.
Which hotel building should I choose?
The Grand Hotel is the most polished, the Seven Clans Hotel is a second full-service option and the Inn at Coushatta is simpler. Compare room descriptions for your dates.
Can I stay in an RV?
Yes. Red Shoes RV Park sits beside the resort, along with chalets. Reserve sites through the official site.
What is the nearest airport?
Lake Charles Regional Airport (LCH). Houston is a common alternative with a longer drive.
Is there a spa?
We could not confirm one at the time of writing. Ask the hotel before you plan treatments.
Does the site make money?
Yes. Certain outbound links pay clutchfantasyb a referral fee on bookings, and direct reservations bring income to the tribe as owner. The affiliate disclosure page explains both.
